1. Reformer - Triceps exercise: This movement challenges posture
through movement while strengthening and toning through the triceps in the
upper arm. As with all Pilates exercises, the movement is initiated and
guided through the deeper core muscles (pelvic floor and transversus
abdominis), while the purpose of the exercise is to isolate the triceps.
2. Reformer - Triangle to plank: In the starting position of triangle
we are stretching through the hamstrings and back while maintaining
abdominal control and length of the spine. The body stretches out into a
plank position when the bed moves away from the start, challenging core
control and upper body strength. This exercise is about integrating
strength, control and flexibility - and it feels great!
3. Reformer - Mermaid: A magnificent stretch that works through a
plan of the body not experienced in everyday activity.
4. Cadillac - Seated push through into saw: This is a terrific stretch
for everyone to enjoy. It stretches the hamstrings and the back through a
forward and spinal movement.
5. Cadillac - Monkey: For the more supple, but an excellent way to
stretch the hamstrings and back.
6. Cadillac - Bridge to stand: This is based on the pelvic lift done in
mat classes. The movement challenges core control and creates a wonderful
experience through the spinal column.
7. Cadillac - Roll down: Also based on the movement from mat classes.
People who usually find this move difficult in mat classes may find themselves
enjoying it more with the assistance of springs to provide precision and
control.
8. Large ladder barrel - Roll up / down: As we did on the Cadillac, this
makes the roll up / down a greater challenge. Ensuring that each vertebrae has
contact with the barrel through the exercise will take good abdominal control
and core strength. The feedback you receive from the apparatus encourages good
movement control.
9. Large ladder barrel - Spine extension: This is based on the mat
exercise Swan, an advanced movement requiring abdominal strength to support the
movement of the lumbar spine, while improving the muscle endurance of the back.
