Kimberley's message
Meet
our Staff ...
Kimberley Garlick, the Director of Pilates Room and mother of 3 daughters had her first Pilates experience when
she was dancing full time. She has been working in the fitness industry for the
past 16 years, becoming a registered Pilates
Practitioner 9 years ago.
Kimberley started
The Pilates
Room with her mother, Heather Roudenko in 1999. Their modest one class schedule
quickly grew in popularity to become a 20-classes a week schedule. During that
time, Kimberley started
the Pilates Studios for Fitness First and worked her own clientele from Bondi
Junction until she opened up The Pilates Room Belrose studio in June 2006.
Highly respected in the Pilates community, Kimberley has a Sports Science background and
holds a Studio Pilates Diploma along with many other Pilates certifications. She is
also an
international presenter and keynote speaker for Pilates and Nutrition.
Our
philosophy at the Pilates Room is to treat each client as an individual,
tailoring every workout to their bodies' needs and their personal goals.
You
will never feel bored or overwhelmed at the Pilates Room as we will ensure that
your workout is specific to your needs on that day. Kimberley

because The Pilates Room is a level 2 Associate of the Pilates Alliance, our

If you are looking for something new in your Pilates workouts, why not try a
small apparatus equipment class. These classes are held at Lionel Watts
Clubhouse on Mondays and Thursdays. There are also theroband classes at Yo Yo’s
on Mondays and Tuesdays and you are able to purchase a theroband from the
instructor for a cost of $10.
The Pilates Room helping you help your environment
Try these 5 simple tips to assist our planet:
- Take your own water bottle with you to avoid using plastic cups
- Take your own thermos for takeaway coffees to avoid using polystyrene
cups
- Use Tupperware containers for your kids lunches instead of cling wrap
- Turn off your lights
- Decrease the use of plastic as much as possible
Do you find yourself picking as you cook? I know I can slip into such habits,
so here are some tips to avoid gaining extra kilos whilst you prepare meals for
loved ones.
- Chew gum while making dinner
- Brush your teeth prior to cooking – you will find you won’t crave food.
This is also good to do directly after eating dinner, so you won’t crave
something sweet
- Cut up celery and eat it as you go
Exercises for great arms!
Every day, 2 times a day, do the following exercises. These two simple exercises
will give you great arms – (but don’t forget to keep on eye on what you are
eating)
- 2 sets of 20 tricep dips – just like we do in class, but if you
are not sure ask your instructor. Points to remember – bend the elbows and
not throw the hips, keep elbows close together and keep your neck in line
with the rest of your spine AND mmmmmm…… pelvic floor and t-line will make
it seem easier.
- 2 sets of 10 push ups – once again same as you in your workouts
with us. You can do wide arm push ups for the chest or narrow position for
your triceps. Alternating them is great.
Term 4 will commences on Monday, 13th October.
Next school holidays are
from Monday, 29th September to 13th October, 2008. There will be no Holiday Mat Classes, but the studio will be open.

The Pilates Room Christmas Party will be held on Friday, 28th November. We
will begin in our studio at Ralston Avenue for a fun demonstration and then move
downstairs for a Thai dinner in the courtyard. The cost will be $50 per person,
which includes dinner and drinks. Please book and pay with Vicki in the studio
on 9975 7766 or email on
info@pilatesroom.com.au.
The Pilates Room studio will be closed from December 22nd – till January 5th,
2009.
Mat Classes in 2009 will begin on Monday, 2nd February.
