Studio news
We are very excited about extending our studio operating hours. In 2008, we
will open on Tuesdays and Monday nights. This means the studio will now operate
6 full days per week and up to 3 evenings.
Thank you to all of our clients who pay so promptly for their sessions. We
are sure you agree that our credit card facility has made this much easier for
you. Unfortunately, because of increasing bank charges, we will now have to
charge a 2.5% surcharge on all credit card charges.
Our studio has become a great little space full of dedicated clients. As it
becomes tricky to find available appointments, please respect our 24-hour
cancellation policy, as we will be adhering to our cancellation policy and the
cost of the session will be charged if insufficient time is given to cancel an
appointment.
Winners of the completed attendance card competition
- Pam Holland - won a free semi-private studio session
- Suzy Maclean - won a free semi-private studio session
- Lyndall Dyer – won a pair of Pilates socks
- Cheryl Ingram – won a complimentary pass to “A Perfect Mind”
Could above lucky clients, please call Vicki at the studio on 9975 7766 to
arrange your prizes.
Osteoporosis is prevalent in our society in both men and women and we would
like to encourage all of our participants to consider the following.
Please speak with your doctor and schedule a bone density test if you fall
into any of the categories below:
- You are over the age of 40
- You are menopausal
- You no longer have your periods
- Your mother or father had osteoporosis
- You are over the age of 30 and are a Vegan
A bone density test is not evasive and will ensure you are doing the right
movements for your body. Your bones hold you upright and keep you moving so look
after them.

Hints to prevent osteoporosis for your siblings
Ensure your children have 3 serves of calcium a day. If they are lactose
intolerant, ensure they have calcium supplementation.
Keep doing weight bearing exercises — Pilates is
excellent for this, of course!

Kimberley's message
As we approach the special Christmas Holiday Season, remember to take care of
your body and keep space in your mind for relaxation and reflection. Stay true
to your beliefs and smile during the bustling times. We encourage you to keep
moving and remember to move a little more during the eating festivities so there
isn’t a battle after the celebrations are finished.
Recent Polestar conference
Heather, Krystle and myself attended the Polestar Pilates International
Conference. I was fortunate enough to be asked to present in the conference and
this was a privilege that I thoroughly enjoyed. We were inspired (a word I don’t
use lightly) by Lollita San Migue,l who is a 74 year old doing a better teaser,
hundred and rollover than many teenagers!. She was flexible, strong and held
herself with grace and pure elegance. We also had a lot of fun with presenters
from Italy, and South America who had us moving with zest and enthusiasm. Thank
you to our studio clients whom we had to reschedule appointments with; we know
that you will be glad we did when you see some of our exciting repertoire.
I will be sharing Saturdays with Mum, oops Heather and Jess throughout Term
4. I hope you can join us. Jess has decided to return to Adelaide. We wish her
well and will miss her. Nikky is pregnant with number 2 baby, but has promised
she will return when she can manage her beautiful family and Pilates. Jan is
teaching in Willoughby for us, so if you would like to enjoy Jan's magic, look
at the timetable for venue and times. Kystle has completed her Critical
Reasoning course, which equips her for rehabilitation. Congratulations Kystle
you are very gifted at what you do!
We, the staff of Pilates Room would like to thank you all for choosing
Pilates as part of your wellness program and look forward to working with you.

Recipe of the month — Summer Frittata
Try this delicious Frittata for a warm summer evening dinner. It's great
served warmed or cold with a green salad.
You will need:
- 8 – 10 eggs
- ¼ cup of cream (or healthy substitute Light Carnation Milk)
- ¼ cup of grated parmesan cheese
- ½ cup of grated tasty cheese
- 2 potatoes
- 1 sweet potato
- Red or green capsicum
- 100g baby spinach
- 1 Spanish onion
- Chopped bacon or pancetta (approx 1 cup)
- Punnet of cherry tomatoes sliced in half
Chop bacon and fry lightly with onion and capsicum. Add spinach to onion
mixture and cook until it has wilted. Remove from heat and stir through tomatoes
Pierce potatoes and sweet potatoes and cook in microwave until tender, cool,
then slice into narrow pieces. Lightly grease a lasagna dish and lay ½ of the
potatoes and sweet potatoes on the bottom and then top with half of the onion
mixture. Repeat. Whisk together the eggs and cream and gently pour this mixture
over the potatoes and onion, Mix the cheeses together and top and place in the
oven until set approx 40 minutes.
