The Pilates Room Studio

Well, the studio in Ralston Avenue has been an exciting venture that has brought me many wonderful new faces and lots of existing mat clients. I would like to thank you all so much for sharing my dream and I hope you are all enjoying your workouts. The results we have been seeing are fabulous and I congratulate you all on your hard work. We have some clients as young as 9 years old and even younger ones in their 80’s. We have clients wanting to lose weight and tone-up, to professional surfers, tennis players, horse riders, dancers and rehab patients. Each person walks in requiring something specific to them and all clients receive a program that is for their body only.

Mat classes

The 2nd term of our Men Only mat class on Tuesday evenings at 7.30  pm is proving to be a hit! The guys from 2006 have progressed in flexibility and abdominal strength and there have been reports of no more back pain. If you would like to join the gentlemen in this class, please call us on:

We would like to offer another Intermediate class in term 2 if we can get the numbers for 2 classes a week. It would go back to the Thursday evening at 7.30 pm, but we require 10 people to run the class.

All our instructors give us terrific reports on their participants and their improvements. It gives us great pleasure in hearing your stories so please share your experiences with us.

Come and join Mum and I and enjoy a great complimenting workout to your Pilates with Lynette, our Yoga Instructor. We started last week and I thoroughly enjoyed the class. With the abdominal control you learn through your Pilates classes, you will feel secure in the more dynamic Yoga moves you may have seen in your past experiences. Don’t be scared by previous Yoga you may have done, come and try Yoga with us.

 

New Year off to a great start!

We welcome all our new and existing mat and studio clients into the New Year. Can you believe we are fast approaching Easter and I am sure there are some of you out there who have set 2007 goals. If you would like us to assist you reach your resolutions or goals please let us know. Our enthusiastic staff will ensure that you start with the best possible formula. The services we offer are listed herein, so please contact us if something interests you.

A few friendly reminders ...

Try to attend 2 classes a week for better results
Wear socks for your Pilates workout
Always have a mat and bring a towel
Wear comfortable clothing — tights or long shorts are good
Bring a water bottle — we have a water cooler so your water is fresh and cool
Arrive 5 minutes early to set yourself up and start in a calm way
Pay prior to class commencement
Place your gear in the small shelves provided
Do not wear any strong perfumes
Always give 48 hours cancellation notice, otherwise you will be charged for the session you missed
Never compare yourself to anyone else — work with your own set of goals
Always inform your instructor when your situation changes, i.e. pregnant, injury
Never use the equipment unsupervised
Always listen to your body and you should never feel pain
Always let the instructor know if you feel faint, dizzy or uncomfortable
Remember to check your next session time before leaving the studio
Do your homework exercises!

Weekend for the Mind, Body & Soul

Tentative date: August 25-26, 2007

We are planning to run a health weekend for all those interested. The cost will be $350 and this will include your lunch. We will be looking at a conference centre in Randwick to run the course. There will be a maximum of 20 participants for the weekend.

The health weekend package will include:

Pilates classes both on props and mat
Yoga classes
Tai Chi
Wu Tao — The Dancing Way
Nutrition talks
Personality profiling and understanding
Personal dietary analysis
Handouts
Morning and afternoon tea
Lunch

This is a great opportunity to kick-start your vitality and health. Come with a friend or partner or enjoy the time to yourself. You will not be disappointed!

Make-up classes

Please ensure you do your make-up classes within the 10-week term. Doctor certificates are required if special allowances are to be made. Please respect this and always bring your cards for signing in class. You can hand your cards in at the end of term to be in the draw for various prizes.

Homework

Please do 2-3 Pilates exercises every day so you can enjoy the benefits of your Pilates workout for longer. Here's a simple checklist:

Roll down x 8
Ham string Stretch (place your leg parallel on a chair and then maintain your hip alignment as you reach forward
Hundreds with bent knees or straight legs
Remember to look toward your knees

All group bookings are organized by our staff unless you have formed your own group.

Private session: one-off in studio $80
Private sessions: block of 10 prepaid sessions $750
Duo session: 2 persons per session $50
Duo sessions: block of 10 prepaid sessions $450
Trio session: group of 3 persons $45
Trio sessions: block of 10 prepaid sessions $350
Mat classes: casual per session $18
Mat classes: Term card of 10 prepaid sessions $135
